What is the difference between Tenerife North and South?

Puerto de la Cruz is a tourist beach destination, but the students can easily experience the local culture, gastronomy and get in touch with locals. 
There are fewer sunny days (approx. 320) in Puerto de la Cruz. During the winter, there are on average a couple of rainy days per month. 
The area is greener and you generally have a great view of Mount Teide.
Places such as Garachico and Icod are more easily reachable by public transport or rental car from Puerto de la Cruz.  
The south of Tenerife is mainly a tourist destination with beaches, hotels, bars, restaurants, and shops - on average 360 sunny days per year. It’s for those who prefer guaranteed sun, beaches and a great nightlife.
